i didn't want her to worry...

So my mom emailed me earlier this week and asked how I was doing. She explained, "I'm a little worried about you."

I responded "why worry? I'm happy and healthy!" She wrote back that it was because she hadn't heard from me in two days (yeah, my mom and I have that kind of relationship. Two days is pretty much forever with us), so I wrote her back a detailed explanation of my past two days.

I even took some pictures of the events of those two days, and had them uploaded to my computer, when it died for the umpteenth time, only this time, I can't turn it back on again, so this post will be pictureless. :(

So, to please my mom, who needs more updates on the mundane details of my life, here goes... warning - nothing exciting is about to happen. NO, seriously.

What I've Been Up To Lately. By Sweetie Lacy.

Part One - Sweetie's Tune Up.

Petesie named it The Sweetie's Tune Up. I decided I needed to get some of my annual doctor visits out of the way and because I don't have much time during the week, I used one of two more vacation days I have from now until October to get four doctors visits out of the way. Yep, four appointments in 24 hours. I took the day off Friday and between Thursday afternoon and Friday I visited the dermatologist (she said I have many dysplastic moles she hates and she'd like to chop all of them off my body. Only problem is, I have about 1000. Our compromise was that I'd come in at least twice a year for the rest of my life. Luckily, I LOVE my dermatologist! No, seriously, I do.), the eye doctor (he said that I have very accomodating eyes and I had to laugh. That seems like such an affliction for women - constantly accomodating for all the crap around them.), the dentist (he said I need to floss more. No surprises there) and the.... um.... girl doctor. She said I'm good to go. Whatever that means.... So, that was Friday, and in between all these visits I planted a little flower garden on the side of my house. Yay. Friday night we went out for Pizza. Petesie's pizza had a termite or something crawling around on it, so we pretty much got the whole meal for free. I'll take bugs on my pizza for free dinner anytime!

Part Two - Our Lazy Lacy Weekend (phrase coined by my mother)

Saturday was one of those days when you don't want to get out of bed, and especially don't want to get dressed in real clothes, wash your face or brush your hair. Luckily for Petesie, I always want to brush my teeth in the morning thanks to some not-so-subtle teasing from my mom and sister when I was growing up about my morning breath. Needless to say, I'm very good about brushing first thing in the morning.

So, we finally get up and had some "hash" for breakfast - diced yukon gold potatoes, onion and eggs with toast and then dinked around the rest of the day. Petesie worked on a project, I... um.... did nothing. By 4:30, we'd had enough of our familiar scenery and decided to make a trip to target where we purchased bandaids, vitamins and much needed fruit snacks (I just had to have them). It was the least exciting Target run of my life. We got home and I made delicious Spaghetti Carbonara and Ree's Mocha Brownies, which were.... um.... amazingly rich. She says that there must be at least the same thickness of mocha frosting as there is brownie, and her frosting alone has two sticks of butter in it. I cut back and only used a stick and a half - how's that for a diet? The brownies were pretty darn incredible, but truthfully we could only realistically have the tiniest square (think one square centimeter) before falling into diabetic shock. Last night I ended up doing something so shocking that you might want to sit down to read this:

I threw the rest of the brownies away.

I know. I'm a terrible person, I wasted food, etc... BUT, those brownies kept calling my name, and before I knew it in three days I'd eaten a third of the pan all by myself. I am not someone who can handle things in moderation. Abstinence for Sweetie, not moderation. So I chucked them. They were great, but I'm glad I did it. So are my thighs, which are slightly larger after the many tiny bites of brownie I've allowed myself to enjoy over the last three days. Anyway, I digress - back to Saturday night.

We watched Lord Of The Rings and then we went to sleep. The end. Sunday we took a leisurely drive to and stroll around Ikea, picked out the cabinets we will eventually use to give our kitchen a face lift and snuggled up at home. I invented and then made Chicken and Rice Curry casserole which was quite good and totally easy. My recipe is as follows: mix up uncooked rice, raw chicken legs, lots of curry powder paste, tumeric, ginger and garlic, add in some chopped carrots and onion, mix together with plenty of chicken broth and bake. Not too bad, actually.

So, that was our full weekend. There you have it. Nothing to worry about except the state of our wastelines.

Sorry to keep you all reading this whole time, for such an exciting post. But I didn't want my mommy to worry, and Petesie's at class and I'm simmering some tomato sauce for pasta for my dinner and thought.... I should get back to my neglected bog, just in case anyone other than my mom is worried. But, I doubt it. :)

Happy Wednesady night people! I'm off to enjoy a glass of wine, Marcella Hazan's tomato sauce (which is apparently The Simplest And Most Amazing Tomato Sauce Ever according to my sister and I just HAD to make it) and some angel hair pasta. I think it's going to be good evening. :)
